In hope of making a quick buck, sellers start trading in replicas of popular brands, such as Arij and Manthan, the leading brands of Mysore Deep Perfumery House (MDPH). We have been assiduously carrying out raids to stop the manufacturing and sale of counterfeit MDPH products.
The raid was conducted on Uma Agarbatti and others as part of its major operation against counterfeiting. Stock worth approximately 1 crore was seized which mainly comprised of huge quantities of fake incense sticks, labels, raw material & dye of our brands Arij and Manthan. The shops and manufacturing facility have been sealed and the manufacturers Umakanta Samal and Jitendra Sahu have been put being bars. The similarity of logo, artwork and design were a major tip-off for the raid conducted.
MDPH is a major player in the Rs. 6000-crore organized and unorganized Indian incense sticks market. As long as there is a gap between the haves and have-not in the society, as long as we measure our worth by the brands we own, and as long as we downplay the behind-the scene-effort, there will always be a demand for counterfeit consumption. The existence and operation of illicit markets such as counterfeiting has been an enduring problem that has increased in scope and magnitude, impacting industries, government, economies, and the health and safety of the consumers.
